Judith Scott has a retrospective of her phenomenal sculpture at The Brooklyn Museum showing until March 29. The museum chose this photo I took of the artist in 2002 for the catalog and I am honored to be included in the book. I'll be visiting the show in person next month and can't wait to see so many of her pieces in one place, she was a friend, collaborator and huge inspiration.

Feast or Famine

Even with all the flooding and bursts of green everywhere this rainy December, we are still in a drought. Hard to comprehend how low our water supply really is when California storms caused whole school districts to shut down for the first time since 2001. Even with a current 16 inches of rain for the year in my town (5 inches above normal for year to date) , we are still 25 inches short of where we should be because of the last several years deficit.  That said, I'm counting our blessings with the 320 gallons of rain we've collected and thankful that my roof is holding up so far.

Thrilled that it is finally raining, but we are far from safe from drought in California. The only lawns that should be green right now are ones that are irrigated with rainwater/greywater or made of astroturf. Wasting water is like nails on a chalkboard.
